Edgar and the band have had a busy and exciting New Millenium so far! It started with Edgar's appearance at the America's Millenium Celebration in Washington, D.C. on New Years Eve. At the request of President Bill Clinton, Edgar performed on this spectacular 3 hour live CBS broadcast from the Linclon Memorial in front of over 300,000 people and a national television audience. The momentum has been picking up for Edgar ever since...boosted largely by a string of television commercials. You can catch Edgar in his hilarious Miller Lite commercial with George Hamilton, or hear his music (Free Ride), used as the corner stone for Buick Regal commercials, which have been playing heavily on national television for nearly 2 years now. His music has also been featured in Burger King , Clariton and Heinz 57 National advertising campaigns. In May, VH1 produced a great "Where Are They Now" segment on Edgar and his highly sucessful career. Most of the photographs featured on that show came from our photo collection here at the Edgar Winter Fan Site, and we were proud to be involved in such a finely produced piece of work. Edgar also recently appeared on the television series "Mysterious Ways", playing himself as a guitar playing rock star! On top of all that, Edgar has made several television appearances, including Late Night With David Letterman, Politically Incorrect, The E Channel, Rockline and has been interviewed for many of the top syndicated radio shows, magazines and newspapers across the country.

Edgar and the band are currently conducting a world wide tour promoting Edgar's last release, "Winter Blues". To catch The New Millenium Tour in your town, take a look at theTour Information Page at this sight. In 2001, Edgar and the Band will visit Japan, Canada and a good portion of the United States. Last summer, they played several of the Volunteer Jam dates, Summerfest dates, and Montreux Jazz Fest. Edgar also toured Europe extensively in July with Steve Lukather of Toto on what was billed "The Odd Couple Tour". Edgar has brought on a new tour manager (Who is actually an old tour manager from years ago), Jeff Worrell. Jeff is seasoned in the business, and has, in recent years , managed the tours of Fleetwood Mac and Pat Benatar, among others. So these shows should be finely tuned and a real treat for anyone attending. Edgar has also been performing a number of one night stands with the likes of Clint Black, Dr. John, Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball (also of Toto) and of course his brother Johnny. He's also been in the studio with Ronnie Montrose sitting in on a couple of songs for Ronnies new CD, coming soon!

Edgar and brother Johnny Winter  recently lent their talents to Rick Derringers "Tend the Fire",which has been released in Europe and is soon to be released in the U.S. as well. Visit Derringer’s Home Page for some great sound bytes from this album.

Additionally, he is presently in the studio working on a couple of new recordings of his own...one tentatively titled Jazzin' The Blues", which will be a jazz/blues CD, the other entitled "Keep On Rockin', which will be Edgar's hardest rocking CD ever. This new solo project will be loaded with some great guest artists. Expect both new CD's to be released by the end of 2001. Edgar signed a major recording deal with Pyramid Records, where he joins such luminaries as Earth Wind & Fire, Joe Walsh, The Doobie Brothers and Robert Palmer. And, if all goes well, expect a LIVE CD of the Edgar Winter Band, coming out soon. The band has been doing a lot of digital recording out on the road, and hopes to release some of this material on CD soon! Release dates on all these projects to be announced here at a later date.

Edgar has been busy, as usual, creating movie soundtracks. (He's already had his songs featured in such films as Air America, Waynes World 2, My Cousin Vinnie, What's Love Got To Do With It - The Tina Turner Story, Son In Law, Encino Man and Netherworld) Now he's recorded a version of Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" for the recently released movie,"Star Kid". Edgar has also completed working on another movie soundtrack with a song called "Good Ol' Shoe" (We like the Winter Blues version better!) which was sung by Willie Nelson and Pop Staple for the hit movie "Wag the Dog" starring Robert Deniro and Dustin Hoffman, and directed by Barry Levinson. And, most recently, his music is featured in the film "Duets" starring Gwyneth Paltrow. Featured in the film will be the song "Texas" from Edgar's "Winter Blues" CD, and a new song, "Keep On Rockin'", which was written specifically for the film. The song "Texas" was released as a single to coincide with the film.

Edgar recently signed two major deals that will keep him soaring skyward into the next decade. An exclusive booking deal with Nick Caris at The Agency Group, and (to help his push into the movie biz) a world wide co-publishing deal with Music Sales, the strongest independent music publisher in the world. Nick Caris tells us "It has always been our goal to work with artists who have not only unlimited potential, but also the ability to make new career peaks. Looking at Edgar's nearly 30 year long career, he is both widely respected as an artist and currently enjoying an exciting, now momentum. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him!" Dick Rudolph, CCE of Music Sales West, said "How could anyone pass up the opportunity to work with a musician like Edgar Winter? The world only thinks it knows Edgar...but people everywhere are going to flip out when they discover how diverse and prolific a talent he really is, and we want to be there as it all happens!" Sounds like Edgar's future is in good hands, and we're excited about being there, too!

What does the future hold in store? Edgar is in the process of writing a musical revolving around an evil Dr. Frankenstein! He hopes that it will be picked up for an off Broadway musical soon. He's also writing a book while out on the road, entitled "Frankenstein". He and the band have filmed a television special for TNN, "Rock On", which will air in the summer of 2001. He's working on a collection of original swing tunes. And...he is in negotiations for more television and movie acting roles. More news on that later! Keep an eye on our Message Board for all the latest news!
